Although he left no major literary works, his pastoral writings, including the present \u003cem data-start=\"1192\" data-end=\"1205\"\u003eInstruction\u003c\/em\u003e, were widely circulated and influential in clerical circles.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp data-start=\"1268\" data-end=\"1623\"\u003eThis pastoral letter reflects Montazet’s concern with the intellectual and moral climate of the late eighteenth century, addressing what he regarded as the principal sources of unbelief and reaffirming the doctrinal foundations of the Catholic faith.
