Uncommon edition of the history of Diodorus of Sicily, translated from Latin by Antoine Macault, who died around 1550.

It was initially translated in April 1535 by Macault, although the royal privilege had been granted on 15 June 1534 to Galliot du Pré and Antoine Augereau. However, it lapsed on the death of the latter, who was burnt on 14 December of the same year. The privilege was then extended without mention of the printer or bookseller on 1 March 1534 (notice BP16_107837).

Our copy is followed by an appendix ‘pour l'intelligence des reductions de talentz à marcs et escuz dor soleil selon le commun cours de ce royaulme en lannée mil cinq cens trente trois et trente quatre, et autres corrections’.

A copy bearing the arms of Guillaume Pavée de Vandeuvre (1779-1870).

Paper losses skilfully filled in the margins of leaves a1 and a2, healthy halos on two quires.

Angeliers' mark on folio bb4 and last folio.

Renouard, ICP, 577.
