Full midnight blue morocco, triple gilt frame on the covers, ribbed spine richly decorated with double gilt fillet and iron boxes, title, date and place of printing in gilt, gilt fillet on the covers, gilt edges, richly decorated interior border (M. Lortic).

Original edition.

Rare and very beautiful illustrated edition of Pygmalion and Idille, the text of which was entirely engraved by Drouët. The edition is illustrated with 6 charming vignettes by Moreau, engraved by Delaunay and Ponce. Idylle is decorated with a title and a tailpiece by Marillier and engraved by Gaucher (Cohen 141).

Our wide-margined copy is presented in its 19th century binding by Pierre-Marcelin Lortic (1822-1892).

Upper and lower corners of the first cover very slightly rubbed.
