Fantasy

The fantastic slips into literature through the crack it opens in the real: first editions of tales in which the strange intrudes without ever fully explaining itself, illustrations that lend the supernatural an unsettled form. It is this very doubt, cultivated since the nineteenth century, that gives these pages their worth, where shadow always spills a little beyond the text.
