OUR VOCATION
Raison d'être
Why this bookshop exists: to offer the world pieces of impeccable quality, rare and desirable, and to share the knowledge that accompanies them.
An international bookshop
Great texts know no borders - nor do their collectors.
Our ambition is simple to state, demanding to uphold: to become a house recognised for its rigour, its curiosity, and its ability to explore unexpected territories and build bridges between disciplines, in France and abroad.
The bookshop's purpose is also to help spread a taste for antiquarian, rare and modern books, autographs and manuscripts... And, who knows, to awaken new vocations.
Quality first, rarity second
A rare piece that is badly damaged remains badly damaged. This is why our first criterion is quality: the freshness of the copy, the interest of its content, the beauty of the object, provenance. Rarity comes next. But there are always, rest assured, examples where rarity will take precedence over quality.
The bookshop's philosophy: better to have few irreproachable pieces than a cluttered inventory.
A collector above all, I grew up in an environment inhabited by art and objects: paintings, sculptures, tribal art, books, archaeological pieces... These silent presences shaped my eye and sharpened my ear for the traces, the memories, the stories held within rare objects.

Transmission
A bookshop that failed to pass on its knowledge would, in our view, be neglecting part of its cultural vocation.
The bookshop publishes articles and videos on antiquarian and rare books, manuscripts and autographs: how to read a collation, what a watermark reveals, why a provenance changes everything. This educational mission is free and open to all - seasoned collectors and curious newcomers alike.
For the collector starting out
A few simple principles, learned through contact with great collections:
- Buy what you love. A coherent collection is born of taste, not speculation.
- Prefer quality to quantity. One fine copy or one fine autograph letter is worth more than three middling pieces.
- Demand precise descriptions - and never hesitate to ask questions before buying.
- Take care of conservation: indirect light, stable humidity, handling with clean, dry hands.
- Surround yourself well: a trusted bookseller is the best ally of a collection that endures.
