SAINT-EXUPÉRY (de), Antoine. Courier du Sud.
Paris: Gallimard, 1929.
Octavo (189 x 122 mm). 227 pp., (2) ff.
Paperback.
First edition, a large-paper copy.
One of 650 copies reserved for the Amis de l'Edition Originale, ours being no. 157.
Saint-Exupéry's first novel and the first book he published in volume form, Courrier Sud draws directly on his experience as a pilot for the Latécoère company, forerunner of Aéropostale. Through the fate of Jacques Bernis, a pilot on the Toulouse-Dakar line, Saint-Exupéry already introduces the themes that would run through his entire body of work: aviation, duty, solitude, and brotherhood among men.
Spine slightly warped, otherwise a good copy.
