First illustrated edition.
A superb, very fresh copy, with a cover illustrated by Frans Masereel (1889-1972), a famous Belgian painter, engraver and illustrator - often celebrated as a master of wood engraving and one of its renovators. The rest of the book is illustrated with 15 wood engravings by the same artist.

Very rare in this condition.

Small light stain on the first plate.
