A beautiful uniformly bound set, finely executed by P. Rosa.
Florian’s pastoral works, inspired by classical and Iberian literary traditions, were among the most popular sentimental and bucolic compositions of the late eighteenth century. The three volumes offered here come from Guilleminet’s 1801 edition, which in its complete form comprised twelve volumes; the present set includes Galatée, Estelle, and the Mélanges de poésie et de littérature.
A leaf in the Mélanges (pp. 163–164) is misbound, appearing just before pp. 161–162. Otherwise a very attractive, clean and finely preserved set in high-quality morocco.
