MUSSET (de) Alfred. La Confession d'un enfant du siècle.
Paris, Félix Bonnaire, 1836.

In-8 (216 x 144 mm), two volumes in one : [4] ff, 321 pp-[2] ff -330 pp, [3] ff. Tan half-chagrin with corners, spine ribbed and decorated with roulette at head and tail of spine, author, title and tomaison in gilt.

First edition.
A ‘work of great rarity’ (Carteret), for the author's only novel, a landmark tale of Romanticism that was largely inspired by the relationship between Musset and Sand.
A pleasant copy, with wide margins, in a sober modern binding in the taste of the period.

Some scattered foxing.

Modern ex-dono on the first false-title (MATEJAR), and unidentified ex-dono on the two title pages.

Carteret, II, 192.
