In-4 (270 x 190 mm), 2 volumes : T1 - [4] ff., 332 pp., [1] f. ; T2 - [4] ff., 332 pp., [1] f. Half brown morocco with corners, smooth spine decorated with gilt floral motifs, gilt author, title, volume numbering, and date, gilt top edge (CH. DE SAMBLANX).

Illustrated edition by Gavarni.
The work is illustrated with 83 plates, including the folding map in volume III-IV of the cholera, and numerous in-text illustrations.
An inscription on the paper in volume I-II mentions that the work comes from the Belgian art gallery Giroux during a sale in November 1936 - lot 118.

Some foxing and rubbing on the boards, with a small tear noted on the lower edge of the rear board of volume III-IV.
