Enclosed is an A.L.S. from Max Jacob dated 30 April 1934, pasted before the masthead: ‘Non décidément, Partisan et ami sans doute? What kind of friendship would hold out against the blows of often divergent interests? So... enemies? Poor writer! Max Jacob’. Red pencil lines frame the text.
