KOESTLER, Arthur. Le zéro et l'infini. Darkness at noon.
Paris: Calmann-Lévy, 1945.

Octavo (190 x 125 mm). 294 pp., (1) f., spine and original wrappers preserved.
Half anthracite morocco, smooth spine, author, title and date gilt, unopened (M. Poupelin).

First French edition, limited deluxe edition.
One of 200 copies on white Marais vellum, the only large-paper copies.

First published in English in 1940 under the title Darkness at Noon, the novel had been written by Koestler in German before his manuscript was long believed lost. This first French translation, made from the English text, appeared in the immediate aftermath of the Liberation.

A superb copy.
