Front cover composed of black and brown rim, with a russet box calf lettering-piece and inlays of embossed box calf, smooth blank spine in beige box calf with exposed stitching on a sand-coloured box calf strap, beige pigskin suede doublure, black paper endpapers, untrimmed, chemise and slipcase (J. de Gonet, 1993).
First edition, with an inscription from the author.
The copy is adorned with two portraits of Genet at the Mettray penal colony. It is exceptionally enriched with 13 vintage postcards illustrating views and scenes of the Mettray colony.
A lovely inscription: "à Jean Marchat, mon souvenir affectueux et ma gratitude, mon chagrin aussi, ma pièce [Haute Surveillance, alors mise en scène au Théâtre des Mathurins par Marchat] ne devrait se servir qu'à vous faire risquer le mépris des braves gens. Enfin...".
A superb copy of this radio play, which was ultimately banned from broadcast.
