Full dark violet morocco, raised bands, author and title in gilt, double gilt fillet to board edges, gilt edges, midnight-blue morocco doublure with a green mosaic floral motif at the corners, silk endleaves (Marius Michel).

First edition, posthumous.
The copy is adorned with a portrait of Vigny after a photograph by Adam Salomon, printed on China paper and mounted on heavy vellum paper. A second portrait, engraved and signed by Froment, is bound in.
