VERHAEREN, Émile. Les villes à Pignons.
Paris: L'édition d'Art H. Piazza, 1922.

Octavo (237 x 174 mm). (3) ff., 160 pp., (5) ff., spine and original wrappers preserved.
Full tan morocco, geometric decoration on the front board composed of thick and thin gilt fillets with a black square at its centre, back board decorated with a thick gilt fillet, spine with raised bands bearing gilt geometric decoration, author, title and illustrator lettered in gilt, slipcase (binding by A. J. Gonon).

Edition illustrated with 41 colour compositions by Henri Cassiers, including the frontispiece, in an Art Deco binding.
One of 720 copies on wove paper from the Blanchet Frères et Kléber manufactures.

Henri Cassiers (1858-1944), an Antwerp painter and poster artist famous for his Red Star Line posters, was the illustrator par excellence of picturesque Flanders and Holland; his watercolours, with their washed skies and red gables, respond here to Verhaeren's verse with a naturalness that has ensured the work's lasting success.

Spine very slightly faded.
