PETIOT, Henry (known as Daniel-Rops) (1901–1965), Autograph Letter Signed “Daniel-Rops”, to Georges Lubin, [Paris], 31 January 1953. With an A.L.S. postcard and a postcard.
1 page in-8 (207 × 133 mm).
Charming letter in which Daniel-Rops invites Georges Lubin to contribute a short tale or story for publication in his post-war review Ecclesia. He asks whether Lubin might have, within a month, “a short tale or novella, of religious inspiration or at least suitable for a general readership”, and adds that even a text previously given to Temps Pascal could be reused, provided a copy is supplied.
Daniel-Rops expresses that he would be “happy to see your name in my review”, offering courteous regards to Lubin’s wife and signing with warm familiarity.
Lubin (1904–2000), novelist and eminent literary historian, is here approached at a moment when Ecclesia was positioning itself as a thoughtful voice in the Catholic intellectual landscape of post-war France.
"31 I 53
Cher ami,
Daniel-Rops"
