Red half-maroquin with corners, spine ribbed and decorated with gilt fillet, between the spines decorated with a cold-stamped rose pattern, double gilt fillets and geometrical decorations and gilt leaves, author, title and date in gilt, gilt head (Thierry sc. de Petit-Simier).

First edition.
A very rare first edition of this quintessentially romantic work set in nineteenth-century Spain. The author was largely inspired by his travels in Spain, initially published in 1843 in Tra Los Montes.
