Full lavallière morocco, raised bands, author and title in gilt, gilt fillet to board edges, top edge gilt over witnesses, a bold gilt fillet flanked by two black fillets on the turn-ins, untrimmed (Gruel).

First edition, a large-paper copy on Holland paper.
Loti's last book, in which he pours out his vision as an eternal traveller through his final journeys from Constantinople to Adrianople.

A handsome copy.
