First edition, with an authorial inscription to Léon Blum.
Born Paul Bernard (1866–1947), he is chiefly known for his novels and witticisms. Visites nocturnes is the author's last detective novel; he was a close friend of Léon Blum, Jules Renard, Pagnol and many others.
A superb authorial inscription: "a Léon Blum / en souvenir de notre / amour commun, mais / réticent un peu, pour la / dictature / Tristan Bernard".
Spine warped, pages browned, small loss at the foot of the spine, offsetting to pages 8 and 9.
