First edition, with a presentation inscription from the author. The inscription is addressed to Georges Hippolyte Mondain, known as Monval (1845–1910), actor and archivist of the Comédie-Française, celebrated for his rediscovery of Diderot’s autograph manuscript of Le Neveu de Rameau. The association is particularly apt given that L’amour brode premiered at the Comédie-Française on 12 October 1893.
