MALRAUX (André). Le Temps du mépris.
Paris: Gallimard, 1935.

8vo (200 × 130 mm). 185 pp., (1) f. Original printed wrappers, housed in a chemise with red morocco title-piece and gilt lettering, matching slipcase.

First edition.
Copy on large paper, one of 297 on vélin pur fil Lafuma Navarre, this being no. 17.

A defining text of Malraux’s political and moral engagement, Le Temps du mépris evokes imprisonment, resistance and human dignity with the incisive style that marked his 1930s oeuvre. Large-paper copies, especially in such fresh condition, are increasingly uncommon.

A very handsome example, the wrappers clean and bright. Light rubbing to the corners of the slipcase only.
