Full green morocco, covers framed with a triple gilt fillet, raised bands, compartments framed by a triple gilt fillet, author, title and date in gilt, double gilt fillet to board edges, top edge gilt over witnesses, turn-ins decorated with a wide gilt dentelle, untrimmed (Durvand).
First edition, on Holland paper, with a letter by Anatole France.
One of 125 copies on Holland paper, normally numbered, but this one unnumbered and inscribed for Michel Manzi, the printer-publisher associated with Joyant.
The accompanying letter, one and a half pages on a bifolium, is frayed with slight loss to the text on the first leaf. An etched portrait of Anatole France on a loose leaf is also included.
