Mariage blanc premiered on 20 March 1891 at the Comédie-Française. Lemaitre, then at the height of his career as dramatist and critic, crafted a play that blends psychological finesse with the understated social observation typical of late nineteenth-century French theatre.
A fine and discreet colour touch-up to the joints; otherwise a superb copy, beautifully preserved and of very high quality.
